Our long time friend Steve and the loveable Loki offered to tend our gardens this year! We quickly said “Yes, Thank YOU!”
Steve is a gardener by profession, and he’s prepped the beds and erected the necessary trellis work, purchased a selection of plants and seeds for the beds including pole beans, two different kinds of squash, radishes, carrots, cantaloupe, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, celery; all for the benefit of our pantry patrons!
Not only has Steve singlehandedly set up our gardens this year, he is also taking on the regular responsibility (near daily!) of watering and weeding. If you’ve ever even attempted a garden, especially in a drought year – or know someone who has, you know this is no small commitment!!
As you can see we’re incredibly fortunate for Steve’s generosity – and his garden knowledge!!
We’re also incredibly fortunate that he brings his buddy Loki (one of the goodest boys around!!), so he has a trusted supervisor on hand to ensure everything is going to plan.
We’d like to share our most heartfelt thanks to both Steve and Loki for their wonderful care and support they’ve given to the pantry, both through their friendship, and now through sharing their gardening talents. We would not have had our beautiful gardens, and their nutritious veggies to share with our neighbors without their hard work and kindness.
