About Come Spring Food Pantry

Founded in 1991 through a service project at the Come Spring School, Come Spring Food Pantry relocated in 2021 from a modest space in the Thompson Community Center with a couple volunteers serving a few dozen of our neighbors, to our present location at 27 Common Road in Union. As the need has grown, so has our impact and ability to serve our community; with dozens of volunteers serving hundreds of our neighbors today. While we continue to provide food assistance, we strive to make our community a healthier, more resilient place by partnering with aligned organizations like Knox County Gleaners, Good Shepherd Food Bank, and many others who share our vision.

At Come Spring Food Pantry, all are welcome. Young families, single parents, elderly couples, veterans, anyone who is struggling with food security: no one is turned away.

About Knox County Gleaners

Founded in 2019 to help connect local farmers with their food insecure neighbors in Knox County, a generous grant from the Harvard Pilgrim Foundation and Penquis allowed its founders to develop the infrastructure needed to begin a gleaning program in Western Knox County. Knox County Gleaners works with farmers, gardeners, and orchard owners who want to share their surplus bounty with those in need. Our volunteers collect and clean, and then distribute surplus food to a variety of sites including Come Spring Food Pantry, other local food pantries, soup kitchens, libraries, senior homes, and other community hubs.

The efforts of our volunteers reduces food waste in farms, gardens, and orchards, and improve food security by distributing healthy, locally grown food throughout Knox County.
